Bang Bang Chicken: Crispy Perfection with a Spicy Twist

Ingredients

For the Chicken:

  • 1 lb (450g) boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup cornstarch
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Vegetable oil for frying

For the Bang Bang Sauce:

  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • ¼ cup sweet chili sauce
  • 1 tbsp sriracha (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tbsp honey (optional for extra sweetness)

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Chicken

  1. In a bowl, mix the flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  2. Dip each chicken piece into the beaten eggs, then coat evenly with the flour mixture.

Step 2: Fry the Chicken

  1. Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep pan over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
  2. Fry the chicken in batches for 4-5 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
  3. Remove and place on a wire rack or paper towels to drain excess oil.

Step 3: Make the Bang Bang Sauce

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, and honey until smooth.

Step 4: Assemble

  1. Toss the crispy chicken in the Bang Bang sauce until fully coated.
  2. Garnish with chopped green onions or sesame seeds (optional).
